RED MUSIC
4 - 5 YEAR OLDS
(Piano for Beginners Only)

Students are taught to play the piano as part of a program that includes singing, rhythm ensembles, learning games, and classroom activities. Rhythm development, ear training, note-reading, music theory and piano performance are incorporated into the lessons.

  • Excellent course we have been teaching over 50 years.

  • An hour long lesson every week that parent MUST attend with the child (NO other siblings allowed – unless enrolled)

  • Must be 4 by September (no exceptions). They need to be able to listen and follow instructions of the teacher.

  • 10 month program (Sept to June) 39 lessons in total with two weeks off at Christmas and one week at spring break (we don’t accept anyone in the program after October 1st)

  • It is a classroom setting with maximum 10 kids per class with each student at their own piano with parents sitting with them.

  • We won’t have students of this age sitting at a piano for one hour straight so we change activities quite often. These activities include singing around the teacher piano, playing as a group, working with notes at a blackboard, games and the use of rhythm instruments. This is all done in a fun way so they do not realize they are learning all the basics of music.

  • It is a commitment by the parent to listen and learn with the child (in the class – no cell phones please) so you can help them at home with the practicing. You need a piano at home to practice on because the second commitment is that they need to practice 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week to keep up with the class. We do NOT recommend purchasing a “keyboard”, but to buy a digital piano or acoustic piano because a keyboard is NOT 88 notes and NOT touch sensitive. A keyboard will only last them for a short period of time. Piano playing is not just learning notes, but learning to play loud and soft as the music dictates

  • You can find out prices by calling Carillon Music Academy at 604-591-1161. There is a tuition for
the 10 months. You pay a fee when you enroll and then the rest is broken down into 10 EQUAL payments
no matter how many lessons you have per month. You will get 39 lessons over the whole year if you
    start the beginning of September.

  • There is a KIT charge due in September as well. The kit contains all the books they need for the year,
castanet, dictation book, pencil and flash cards. Everything they need is in that bag, so NO hidden
charges. You receive the kit at the first lesson.
